Well hello everyone. What a mad March and April it's been for Lily Mosaics!
In March and April alone I ran twelve Beginner's Mosaic Workshops (some at my studio in Nuthall, some at the fabulous Straightcurves Crafts in Chesterfield, and a few others in new venues, like the beautiful Little Paper House in Hulland Ward. I even travelled to Scunthorpe to do one workshop!).
Below I'll post some photos of my students' work for you to look at. Fab results don't you think? None had ever mosaiced before!

March also saw my first selling event of the year at the "Fabulous Places" Spring Market at the Roundhouse in Derby. I was amazed at the turnout. It was Mothering Sunday the following weekend so all my Mum presents sold quickly. I've added some photos of new my March stock below...
(The Fabulous Places Summer Market is on the 5th and 6th of July.)

Throughout March and April I also worked hard on a few commissions, this Chesternut Cottage house plaque being one of them.
I'm currently working on a 3D bird on a stand commission, which I am covering with broken mirror. It's a labour of love I can tell you, but I can't wait to finish it. I'll post a pic in the next blog (hopefully! haha).

And so to May! I am at the lovely Southwell Minster Craft Fair on Saturday 3rd May 2014 (10-4pm). I know the parking around the venue is a bit chaotic (the Pay and Display car park gets full very quickly), but there is lots of free street parking within an easy walking distance! And it's SO worth the walk - it's not only a beautiful venue, but there's always a great variety of stalls that have been vetted for quality, so you'll see some beautiful handmade designs.
Phew, I'm exhausted reading that all back! Well, May will be here before we know it. With Southwell Minster on the 3rd May, I then start my way through new Workshop bookings. I'm doing some Beginner's Workshops at a new venue, The Craft Studio on Derby Road in Nottingham, on the 8th and 10th May (all fully booked sorry!). It's such a cute and beautiful little place, have you visited it yet? Clare owns The Craft Studio and puts on a wide variety of courses with some great tutors. I booked onto her Free Machine Embroidery workshop and made a fantastic bag (well it is in my opinion)!. So if these 2 new mosaic bird workshops go well I'm hoping Clare will book me in for some more there. Fingers crossed.
Oh and I'm taking part in a new event this year. I'll be having a stall inside one of the artist's houses on the Lady Bay Arts Festival trail in West Bridgford on the 17th and 18th May (12-6pm). So wish me luck!
Ok I'm off....got loads of grouting to do ready for setting up at Southwell Minster on Friday. Yikes! Hope to see you there. Lis x
